I never thought I would live to hear the words “Mulder and Scully” come from the mouth of Ryan Seacrest. After weeks of anticipation, I finally saw the lovely David and Gillian appear on the Fox 25th anniversary special. Oh, and Chris was there too, which was a nice surprise. The relatively short blurb about TXF wasn’t all I could’ve hoped for (I was HOPING for XF3, but I guess we can’t have it all) but it was still an amazing five or so minutes.

It was great to hear Chris, David, and Gillian discuss “Post-Modern Prometheus,” and you know what? I KNEW David would mention the dance scene at the end. That man is such a shipper. For a brief moment, I thought they would show us the take where Mulder and Scully kissed (which I know exists, don’t deny it), but once again, I guess I can’t have it all.

Then of course there was Gillian’s hair. As soon as she came on screen my mom and I shared a fangirl moment because not only did she LAUGH, but she looked amazing. I will be doing my hair like that in the near future. That’s just what I do.

Next came the obligatory, but still awesome, montage of some of the show’s greatest moments. I amazed my Phile mother by shouting out what episodes clips were from when they came on screen. Some of them were too fast, but don’t think for a second that I didn’t name them in my head. It went a little something like this:

Me: Erlenmeyer Flask-Pilot-Deep Throat-Pilot-Pilot-Without-The Truth-Pilot-Leonard Betts-Anasazi-Pilot-Tooms-

Mom: How in the world do you know these so well?!

Me: How do you not?!

It was a good time. Then I had a conversation with her about Gillian that made me ashamed to be her daughter.

Mom: Gillian looks so great! She never married though, did she?

Me: Um, she married like five times.

Mom: Oh. Well, she only had her one daughter though, right?

Me: *facepalm*

Mom: What was her name, like Paige?

Me: Piper mom. Piper.

That’s all I need to say about that.

I think my point is that I rarely get to share moments with my mom like this. It’s not like we don’t get along (quite the opposite actually), but I think it’s neat for both of us to both be so excited about the same thing. I don’t know a lot of other Philes in real life, so she’s all I have. Not that I mind.

But, that’s what the really great TV shows do though, don’t they? They bring people together.

Thanks for being awesome.
