I hope I am not bothering you with these updates, but I think it’s important to keep you aware of what is going on Millennium related. Lance did press junkets for the TRON Uprising animated series this past Saturday and he got many questions about Millennium and a possible movie. Well, today it went viral. I am including just a couple of links (here and here), but it has been spreading big time today. Lance also talked about our upcoming book, so we got coverage there as well.

Mr. Frank Spotnitz:

We are only seven months off the mythical date of December 21 where the alien invasion will take place and as we all know it would be a shame not to know that Mulder and Scully will do to save the world from this threat.

We know that you and many fans have made the best part for made a third film of the X-Files but we also know that the last word belongs to the 20th Century Fox.

If they ultimately do not want to venture to the completion of The X-Files for economic reasons why not write a book then … that would prevent the conclusion done through a good novel … imagine … the costs would do little or no in relation to $30 million it would cost to do the last movie … imagine all that could not include in this book … there would be no limitation for imagination … Mulder using their esoteric knowledge of psychology and contacts to get help from spirits, good angels and extraterrestrials to help against the invading aliens, demons supporting the invasion, the end of the conspiracy, Scully, Skinner and other two FBI agents helping, the connection to William, etc. .. there are no limits … would not have missed … only profits.

Imagine a best seller published in several languages and in several countries by December this year … there would be no problem if the time after December 21 Fox decides to make a movie that would be based on book as they have done with other novels like The DaVinci Code.

The 20th Century Fox would earn royalties from book sales and you also for its implementation and those that somehow we have followed the series also would win … for you would be something new .. a new challenge … for a business where 20th Century Fox would lose nothingand also a new form of business for television networks and fans would be something so great because not only would a dream come true to see XF3 but also would be a way to make them see the networks producing TV shows we deserve respect … There is not possible that they filmed so many series and canceled without putting an end … so it would be a way they could do it without missing …with a book… is good business and there is only win-win! (If this idea works please don’t forget me … heh, heh, heh.)

Why not do it …

Best regards,

Dear Frank,

Today is my birthday, and so I have a humble request for the answer to a question that’s been burning in our collective minds for over a decade. At the end of “Never Again,” Mulder says to Scully, “Yes, but it’s my…” What was he going to say next?

Our scientific conclusion has been that he was about to say, “Yes, but it’s Myocardium.” This is reference to the muscle making up the heart. Mulder was reminding Scully that she does in fact have vulnerable biological organs, especially the heart, and warning her that the next crazy guy who liked her would probably try to rip it out. However, Mulder was cut short by Scully’s disparaging glance, a reminder that she knows exactly what myocardium is because she is a medical doctor.

If that is NOT in fact the right answer, please correct it. Thank you!

Scientifically,

Mary Beth

P.S. Jessa Moxed and Roi still want to know if you like Cheetos.

I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to that one — you’d have to ask Glen and Jim, who wrote the episode. As for whether I like Cheetos… doesn’t everyone? (Although my British friends claim Cheez Doodles are superior.) Hope you have the best of birthdays, Mary Beth.

Dear Frank,

I am writing to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking your time to meet with us fans during your seminar in Berlin. I am sure I am not the first Berlin phile to write to you — we are still incredibly happy and grinning like crazy. We had no idea this was even possible, but meeting and talking to you made us even bigger fans.

On a personal note, I am also still amazed that I got to be there at all. Being consumed by work and being a German phile obviously does not give one so many X-Files opportunities. But you know, don’t give up . And philes never do, they are optimists at heart and don’t stop fighting for what they believe in. That’s why they are amazing people and great friends. I would have never thought I’d be this lucky!

If you look closely at one of my X-Files “shrines,” you might spot a certain picture and autograph .

All the best,

Hey Frank,

Throughout the years, we watched Mulder and Scully fight for the Truth. They never gave up, and we’ll never give up on them. In the meantime though, we have a chance to fight for both them and The X-Files.

Ology.com is holding a contest for the Most Far Out Show. Not only did The X-Files raise the bar on getting out there (and being awesome), but it was also an inspiration for many of the other shows that we’re competing against.

XFN, along with X-Files Memories and Pinoy X-Philes, was selected to help represent the XF fandom in this contest. So we just wanted to drop you and all the other Philes a line to let you know that it’s time to rally the troops. We have another chance to show the strength that The X-Files and this fandom still have. Plus there’s even an awesome t-shirt prize involved.

Hopefully Fox is watching… (Just not in a creepy “Trust No 1” kind of way.)

As a lot of Philes out there in the fandom know, I’m currently participating in iiNet’s TopGeek 2.0 competition, which if I win will see me attend the fandom event of my choice anywhere in the world – all expenses paid.

Currently I am fighting for a spot in the final, which will be held in Perth on May 10th.

I wanted to share my entry with the Phile community, because without their help (and yours) – I wouldn’t have been able to give my project a voice. It gives me chills when I watch it back, and makes me damned proud to be a part of such an amazing fandom.

I never thought I would live to hear the words “Mulder and Scully” come from the mouth of Ryan Seacrest. After weeks of anticipation, I finally saw the lovely David and Gillian appear on the Fox 25th anniversary special. Oh, and Chris was there too, which was a nice surprise. The relatively short blurb about TXF wasn’t all I could’ve hoped for (I was HOPING for XF3, but I guess we can’t have it all) but it was still an amazing five or so minutes.

It was great to hear Chris, David, and Gillian discuss “Post-Modern Prometheus,” and you know what? I KNEW David would mention the dance scene at the end. That man is such a shipper. For a brief moment, I thought they would show us the take where Mulder and Scully kissed (which I know exists, don’t deny it), but once again, I guess I can’t have it all.

Then of course there was Gillian’s hair. As soon as she came on screen my mom and I shared a fangirl moment because not only did she LAUGH, but she looked amazing. I will be doing my hair like that in the near future. That’s just what I do.

Next came the obligatory, but still awesome, montage of some of the show’s greatest moments. I amazed my Phile mother by shouting out what episodes clips were from when they came on screen. Some of them were too fast, but don’t think for a second that I didn’t name them in my head. It went a little something like this:

Me: Erlenmeyer Flask-Pilot-Deep Throat-Pilot-Pilot-Without-The Truth-Pilot-Leonard Betts-Anasazi-Pilot-Tooms-

Mom: How in the world do you know these so well?!

Me: How do you not?!

It was a good time. Then I had a conversation with her about Gillian that made me ashamed to be her daughter.

Mom: Gillian looks so great! She never married though, did she?

Me: Um, she married like five times.

Mom: Oh. Well, she only had her one daughter though, right?

Me: *facepalm*

Mom: What was her name, like Paige?

Me: Piper mom. Piper.

That’s all I need to say about that.

I think my point is that I rarely get to share moments with my mom like this. It’s not like we don’t get along (quite the opposite actually), but I think it’s neat for both of us to both be so excited about the same thing. I don’t know a lot of other Philes in real life, so she’s all I have. Not that I mind.

But, that’s what the really great TV shows do though, don’t they? They bring people together.

Thanks for being awesome.

Hello Frank,

As you may know, Fox’s 25th Anniversary Special aired this Sunday. Among other shows, The X-Files was specially featured as one of the staple Sci-Fi shows that helped make Fox the network that it is.

David, Gillian and Chris were part of it, and it was so refreshing. They praised what the show brought to their lives, how it was such a groundbreaking event in the TV of the 90’s, and how it has been referenced in many other very successful TV shows since then. All it was missing was you, bringing the epicness full circle.

The segment brought so much excitement that The X-Files spontaneously trended on Twitter at least a couple of times during the airing of the special on different timezones. The buzz throughout all the social media platforms was very intense, even when people knew that it wasn’t going to include a 3rd movie announcement. You wonder – - the show has been off the air all of this time, and a 4 minute segment brings enough attention to create all this buzz. Seriously… what is Fox waiting for? It certainly gave us the chills to see them all on the big small screen once again.

Millennium also got a small showcase on the Sci-Fi Shows montage.

You can see the HD version of the special here.

Best,

About two weeks ago, I moved from Los Angeles back to Knoxville, TN. With the economy being what it is, and my job desperately needing me back at our corporate office, it made sense. It wasn’t easy as my husband, children, and I had fallen in love with Los Angeles, but it makes sense for the financial stability of our kids. When I left I knew there would be one thing I would miss more than anything else, and I’ve known her now for almost 5 years. If not for The X-Files, and for XFilesNews.com, I never would have met her. Today one of our favorite fan vidders put out a beautiful video dedicated to The X-Files and to XF3 and as I sit here at work watching this video, I’m in tears. I’m in tears because I love this show, I love this fandom, and I love and miss my best friend. She’s my constant and my touchstone and I am grateful to you Frank for being part of something that brought her to me, and me to her. So Avi, I love you, I miss you, and we’re rocking XFilesNews from two timezones once again. I am not giving up, and you are not giving up because we’re gonna make it happen together. We owe it to each other, to this show, and to the fans that have become a part of our worldwide family.

Hey Frank!

I can tell what you’re thinking, “Oh no, what unanswerable question does she have for me today?” But you’re in luck! My question today is totally answerable. In fact, I think you might even enjoy it, as it has a bit of depth. Now what is this question, you ask? Well let me start with the backstory.

See, I’m pretty much a science nerd. I’m studying biology and working towards vet school, but in that process, there’s a whole lot of chemistry and physics along the way. Those are the only classes I’ve taken over the past year, and it’s been kind of mind numbing. So this semester, I was really excited to take a (very basic) film course. We sit in class and watch movies once a week. How fantastic is that?

It gets better though. I got to do my last essay on I Want to Believe. That’s right, my homework was watching The X-Files! Our final paper was going to be on a film director of our choice, but once the professor read my IWTB essay, he suggested that I do my paper on the impact of the show on American culture. And I think we all know what my answer was.

Along with some other aspects, I’m really looking into the paranoid 90’s phenomenon and how well the show played into that. Now what I was wondering, is if you had any short thoughts on that issue or on any other major ways in which The X-Files philosophically impacted American thinking.

See, no spoilers required to answer, so if you have a minute, my GPA will love you forever. Plus, my professor refers to me as “the X-Files girl,” and that’s a lot to live up to.

Roileigh

I love it! I would like to think that The X-Files had an impact on American television, and helped usher in an age of more complex and visually sophisticated storytelling. But… it honestly is very hard for me to assess what impact The X-Files has had on American culture — maybe especially hard for me, because I’m so close to it. Sorry, Roileigh. Guess you’d better keep the questions coming…
