Hey Frank,

I’ve noticed for years that the “I Want to Believe” poster in Mulder’s office randomly changes between Seasons 3 and 4 of The X-Files. Basically, in Season 4 (in the “Tunguska”/”Terma” mythology two-parter, I think), on the poster a tall tree is now on the UFO’s right (our left), two red lights are now on the UFO and the UFO is now tilted slightly.

After all these years of wondering why this change was made, I was wondering if you have an answer. Never bothered me at all, but I’ve always been curious as to how the change came about and why.

My recollection is that there was a problem with the legal rights to the photograph used in the original “I Want To Believe” poster.  It was resolved by changing the image.
