Frank,
First, thank you for being so receptive to feedback from fans. Very few television producers provide a blog like this.
I have been reading comments about a “Charity Q&A” that was held last month. Some fans thought that you and Chris were less optimistic about another movie than you were before. I hope that this is not the case and I would be glad to hear anything that would refute this!
I watched The X-Files throughout my teenage and college years, so I have many fond memories of the show. As soon as the CSM announced 2012 as the date of “the final alien invasion,” I started looking forward to a movie that would continue this story.
I hope that this movie is still possible… you have many loyal fans out here, so please let us know if we can do anything to help!
Thanks for all of your hard work on The X-Files,
Stephen

I didn’t realize some fans took away that impression, so I’m glad you brought it to my attention, Stephen. I am no less optimistic than before — in fact, I’m even more optimistic given the incredible support The X-Files has received from the XF3 Army and the Believe in the Future campaigns. People may disagree over why I Want to Believe performed as it did at the box office, but I think the commercial and creative case for a third X-Files feature film dealing with the alien mythology is undeniable. Sometime in the not-too-distant future, I believe the studio will come to see that, too. (In fact, I have a hard time believing they won’t.)
